Monumental Memories: Special Programming Series

Monumental Memories is a museum program series at The Journey Museum in Rapid City that explores how landmarks, public spaces, and major events shape regional memory. Visitors interested in Black Hills history, Lakota history, and public monuments can hear from historians and cultural leaders in focused talks tied to specific topics. Series Dates July 23: Battle of Greasy Grass 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM  Author and historian Donovin Sprague shares the lasting impact of the battle on Lakota history. September 13: Establishing Black Hills Towns 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Historian David A. Wolff looks at the founding of Black Hills communities during the gold rush era.
